| In Cologne a "Brauhaus" (plural "Brauhäuser) is not what one might at first think. Though there are a few Brauhäuser which today still brew on the premises, the term actually refers to any building which can positively trace a brewing history. In Cologne there are over 200 such buildings, some of which trace their brewing history back over 700 years or even more!
