    All-Grain FAQ

Don't forget that along with this FAQ, we also have an entire section on all-grain brewing.

    Questions :

    Answers :

    • How much longer does it take to brew all-grain?
We already have this answered over here.

    • What equipment do I need to brew all-grain?
We already have a section for this, so please see it.

    • What's the best type of cooler to use for mashing?
We already have a section for this, so please see it.

    • How powerful a propane burner do I need?
Well, actually, if you are only doing 5 gallon batches of all-grain, you don't even need a propane burner.  You can actually brew these smaller batches right on the top of an average stove.  But if you do want to purchase a propane burner, please check out the following page.

    • How can I increase my extract efficiency while mashing?
We already have this answered over here.

    • Which chiller is best, a counter-flow (CF), or an immersion?
We've already got a page dedicated to this question, so please refer to it.

    • When during the mash should I check my pH?
      This is answered right here.

    • How do I use rice in my beer?
      See here for details.

    • How do I use flaked or malted wheat in my beer?
      That is detailed right here.

    • How long can I store grains?

Check out this page for that information

    • Which mill is best for crushing my grain?
There are a couple of very good choices.  See here for details.

    • Which type of cooler is best for all-grain brewing?
We have that topic covered right here.

    • How do I convert mg/L to ppm?
      > I just got my copy of the water profile for my city...it's all in
      > Mg/L and all the profiles for styles of water are in parts per million,
      > so how do I translate my numbers?

There is no need to translate as they are the same thing
