Ingredients
MethodEmptied ingredients into brewpot containing 6 litres water, and boiled for 1 hour. Put about 6 litres in 19 litre carboy, dumped in the wort, and filled it up to about the 16 litre level. This being estimated, of course.
Databrewed: 06 Aug 1995pitched: 07 Aug 1995 (wort: 73F, yeast: 72F) bottled: O.G. 1.043, measured immediately after pitching and stirring well. F.G. 1.0?? 11.08.95 -- 1.023 14.08.95 -- 1.020-1.021 21.08.95 -- 1.019 26.08.95 -- 1.013
PitchingAccording to the kit, the yeast is a real Pilsener yeast. It was rehydrated in a sterilized jar with about 400ml boiled water, and was pitched on the day after brewing.
Fermentation08.08.95 - evening, just starting to pick up. lock bubbles every second. Temp 19C09.08.95 - morning, about the same, a bit of foam on top of liquid. Temp 20C 10.08.95 - slowing down already, I'm worrying that it is stuck. 11.08.95 - even slower, although still going every 3 or 4 seconds. S.G. 1.023 14.08.95 - Waited over a minute and no bubble from lock. S.G. 1.020-1.021 15.08.95 - bought a package of Pilsener Enzyme, sprinkled in, and stirred well. 16.08.95 - A.M. bubbling every 30 to 40 seconds now, seems to have worked. 21.08.95 - measured -- still at 1.019. Took out of basement upstairs. 22.08.95 - warmth seems to have started it again - chugging away nicely 26.08.95 - still chugging nicely, every 20-30 seconds. Seems to be taking forever. S.G. 1.013
